Description
The AO820 Analog Output Module has 4 bipolar analog output channels. The choice of current or voltage output is configurable for each channel. There are separate sets of terminals for voltage and current outputs, and it is up to the user to wire outputs properly. The only differences between current or voltage channel configuration is in software settings.
To supervise the communication to the A/D-converters the output data is read back and verified. The opencircuit diagnostics are read continuously as well. The process voltage supervision input give channel error signals if the voltage disappears. The error signal can be read via the ModuleBus.

The AO820 offers flexible output configuration with each channel independently configurable for current or voltage output through software settings. The AO820 continuously supervises communication to the D/A converters by reading back and verifying output data, and monitors for open-circuit conditions on current outputs greater than 1 mA. The AO820 also provides process voltage supervision that generates channel error signals if the voltage disappears, with error signals readable via the ModuleBus. The AO820 features front-panel LEDs indicating Fault (F), Run (R), Warning (W), and OSP (Output Set as Predetermined) status for quick visual diagnostics.
The AO820 supports the OSP function that sets outputs to a predetermined state upon error detection, with configurable timer settings of 256, 512, or 1024 ms. The AO820 is short-circuit proof with current-limited outputs, supporting a maximum load resistance of 550 Ω for current outputs and a minimum load resistance of 5 kΩ for voltage outputs. The AO820 supports field cable lengths up to 600 meters (656 yards), providing flexibility in system layout and installation.
