What is the OTAC-01 ？+The ABB OTAC-01 is a Pulse Encoder Interface Module designed to connect digital pulse encoders to ABB drives (typically ACS500 series) for accurate speed or position feedback.

What encoder types does the OTAC-01 support?+The OTAC-01 supports digital pulse encoders with standard A/B pulse phasing. It is designed for differential input signals, open collector, or open emitter configurations.

Do you provide warranty as standard?+We provide a full 12-month warranty for the OTAC-01 . So, if you have any problems within 12 months from the date of delivery, then you can contact our Team who will be happy to help and explain what your next steps should be.

Does the OTAC-01 module provide power to the connected pulse encoder?+No, the OTAC-01 module does not supply power for the encoder. An external power supply is recommended. Alternatively, you can use the drive's internal 24 VDC supply from terminals X1:10 and X1:11, provided the total current draw from all connected devices does not exceed 250 mA.

How can I verify that my encoder is connected and phased correctly with the OTAC-01?+You can perform a functional test. After installation, run the drive in the forward direction and check parameter 0147 MECH REVS on the drive. This value should increase in the positive direction. If it does not, you may need to swap the A and B channel connections on the OTAC-01 module.

Which ABB drives are compatible with the OTAC-01 module?+The OTAC-01 module is compatible with all ACS550 drives. However, to confirm compatibility with a specific pulse encoder, you must compare the encoder's requirements to the module's specifications found on page 19 of the manual.
