The Allen-Bradley 2098-DSD-020X-DN Ultra 3000 Digital Servo Drive module is a single-phase AC drive used for control of most industrial servo motors. This module comes with DeviceNet and Indexing. The 2098-DSD-020X-DN has an operating shock of 15g (3 pulses, 11 ms). The non-operating shock of this module is 30 g (3 pulses, 11 ms). This module is designed to maintain optimum functionality at 2.5 g vibration. This module can operate at altitudes of up to 1000 m (3280 ft) without derating. The operating temperature of this module is 0 -55 °C (32-131 °F). The storage temperature of this module is -40-70 °C (-40-158 °F). The relative humidity of this module is from 5-95% without condensation.

The 2098-DSD-020X-DN is an Allen-Bradley Digital Servo Drive (DSD) from the Ultra 3000 Product family of motion control components. This drive is mainly used to interface with Servo motors such as Allen-Bradley’s Kinetix Servo Motor series to implement motion and position control to the connected load. The 2098-DSD-020X-DN accepts feedback position data from encoders such as the Allen-Bradley sine/cosine and incremental external encoders from the Bulletin 842HR, 844D, 847H, and 847T. The 2098-DSD-020X-DN product is operable at an input supply voltage of 120VAC / 240 VAC, 1-Phase, 50-60 Hz, and an input current of 18 Amperes. This servo drive delivers an output voltage of 120 / 240 VAC, 3-Phase, programmable frequency range of 0-400 Hz, maximum continuous output current of 10 amperes, and maximum peak output current of 30 Amperes. It generates a continuous output power of 115 kW at 115 VAC input and 2.0 kW at 230 VAC input. The 2098-DSD-020X-DN has an integrated DeviceNet communication interface that allows the drive to directly communicate with DeviceNet capable controllers such as Allen-Bradley’s SLC and Logix controllers with appropriate DeviceNet scanner capability.

The Ultra3000 does not require isolation transformers. However, atransformer may be required to match the voltage requirements of thecontroller to the available service. To size a transformer for the mainAC power inputs, the power output (KVA) of each axis must beknown. This can be derived by calculating the horsepower for eachaxis and converting that horsepower into units of watts. If you aresupplying power to more than one motor and an Ultra3000, simplyadd the kW ratings together from each calculation to get a system kWtotal.
