The housing consists of a dome cover that screws into the body, threaded ports for conduit connections, a probe sleeve of specified length, O-rings, a reverse mount proximity probe, a thread seal, and the selected conduit fittings. Use of a proximity probe housing allows external access to the proximity probe and its extension cable, permitting gap adjustment or probe replacement without disassembly of the machine.
Sleeve lengths longer than 304 mm (12 inches) require additional sleeve support to reduce vibration associated with unsupported long sleeve lengths. Bently Nevada offers a probe support and oil seal (part number 37948-01) for long sleeves that must pass through an inner bearing housing. Custom sleeve supports are also available.

Thread Sealing: Use the included thread seal on the housing threads to maintain environmental and explosion-proof integrity.
Sleeve Support: Total probe penetration should not exceed 12 inches (305 mm). If it does, you must add a sleeve support near the probe to prevent destructive resonance.
Counterboring: For probe penetrations between 1.0 and 2.0 inches (25 to 50 mm), you may need to counterbore the machine case. This reduces probe side-view or rear-view interference.
Adjustments: The D dimension (probe penetration option) has a fine adjustment range of ± 0.5 inches (± 13 mm).

The housing assembly is certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) as explosion-proof for hazardous areas. Certification coverage includes Class I Divisions 1 and 2 Groups C and D, Class II Divisions 1 and 2 Groups E, F, and G, and Class III Enclosure Type 4. Temperature codes are T5a for –50°C to +40°C and T4a for –50°C to +80°C. CSA and BASEEFA approved proximity probes can be ordered with the housing for intrinsically safe applications. The housing is certified as a CSA Type 4 enclosure.
