Armored ETR extension cable
Bently Nevada 330190-085-01-05 is an armored extended temperature range extension cable for the 3300 XL proximity transducer system. Its ordering options specify an 8.5 meter cable and CSA, ATEX and IECEx approvals. PFA insulation supports the documented elevated temperature cable service.
This cable connects the proximity probe to its matched Proximitor Sensor, completing the required electrical length of the measurement chain. Which probe length completes a nine meter channel with this cable?
The ordering instructions require the extension cable and probe lengths to add up to the Proximitor Sensor total length. An 8.5 m cable therefore pairs with a compatible 0.5 m probe in a 9 m configuration. Check the complete sensor and probe identities, not length alone. -
Does the 260 degree temperature rating apply to the whole system?
No. The ETR extension cable operates and stores from -52 to +260 degrees C. The ETR probe tip and Proximitor Sensor have different temperature limits. Each component must remain within its own documented limit; the cable rating does not raise the sensor rating. -
Can ETR and standard temperature components be mixed?
The manufacturer permits the stated ETR and standard temperature probe and cable compatibility and uses standard 3300 XL Proximitor Sensors with ETR components. However, any ETR component limits the resulting system accuracy to ETR specifications. Confirm the complete electrical length and application conditions. -
Is the cable specified as 50 ohms or 75 ohms?
The official extension cable specification is 75-ohm triaxial cable. The separate 50-ohm output resistance listed in the datasheet belongs to the Proximitor Sensor, not this extension cable. Do not use that sensor value as a cable impedance specification. -
How should the ClickLoc connectors be tightened?
For two gold 3300 XL ClickLoc connectors, the manufacturer specifies finger tightening. Maximum connector torque is 0.565 N m. The different instruction for a non-XL stainless connector joined to an XL connector must not be substituted for the two-gold-connector instruction. -
What routing and connector protection should be checked?
Observe the 25.4 mm minimum cable bend radius and protect exposed connector junctions as recommended by the manufacturer. The armored cable drawing shows miniature male and female connectors without factory protectors. Use the applicable ETR connector-protection accessories and instructions for the installation. -
Does approval suffix 05 prove suitability for any hazardous area?
No. Suffix 05 selects CSA, ATEX and IECEx approvals in the ordering table. The permitted area, ambient limits, associated equipment and installation requirements must be checked against the actual unit markings and applicable controlled drawings. A suffix alone is not a complete installation approval.
