Description

The Bently Nevada 18745-04 is a 5mm 7200 Proximitor Sensor designed as an integral component of the Bently Nevada 7200 Series Proximity Transducer Systems. The 18745-04 is a noncontacting, gap-to-voltage transducer system that measures static as well as dynamic distances between the probe tip and the observed target. The 18745-04 is designed to work with both 5mm and 8mm proximity probes, providing versatility for various machinery monitoring applications.

The Bently Nevada 18745-04 provides a frequency response from 0 Hz (DC) to 10 kHz, enabling the 18745-04 to measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) values on rotating and reciprocating machinery. The Bently Nevada 18745-04 system offers 80 mils (2mm) of linear measuring range and is compatible with API 670 requirements for machinery protection systems.

The Bently Nevada 18745-04 is configured for a combined probe and extension cable system length of 9 metres (29.6 feet), making the 18745-04 suitable for installations where the monitoring equipment must be located at a significant distance from the measurement point. The Bently Nevada 18745-04 operates with a power supply voltage rating of -18 to -24 VDC.

The Bently Nevada 7200 5mm / 8mm Series Proximity Transducer Systems are noncontacting, gap-to-voltage transducer systems that measure static as well as dynamic distances between the probe tip and the observed target. The general application in any requirement for an accurate, noncontacting displacement measurement. However, the most common use is for shaft position and vibration measurements on rotating and reciprocation machinery. They are designed for use with virtually any machine type including gas and steam turbines, compressors, pumps, centrifuges, electric motors and generators. The system offer 80 mils (2mm) of linear measuring range and are compatible with API 670 requirements.

The 18745-04 Bently Nevada 5mm 7200 Proximitor Sensor may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Bently Nevada 18745-04 5mm 7200 Proximitor Sensor Manuals, Datasheets, Drivers, Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
Primary applications include shaft position and vibration measurements on rotating and reciprocating machinery. The system is deployed across virtually any machine type, including gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, pumps, centrifuges, electric motors, and generators. The 80-mil (2 mm) linear measuring range meets API 670 requirements.
The sensor is housed in an enclosure measuring 8.13 cm in height, 6.12 cm in width, and 6.35 cm in depth, with a weight of 0.5 kg. It operates in ambient temperatures from –55 °C to +100 °C and carries an IP67 protection rating. The unit is manufactured in the United States.
  • Turbomachinery Monitoring: Extends signals reliably in turbines, compressors, and pumps for vibration monitoring.
  • Industrial Monitoring: Connects seismic sensors and casing transmitters directly to monitoring racks
  • Compressors: Monitors dynamic structural stress and aerodynamic instabilities in centrifugal/axial units
  • Heavy Pumps/Motors: Tracks vibration changes indicating wear in high-speed rotating components

Power Down First: Turn off the monitoring system before routing or connecting the cable.
Observe Bend Radius: Do not over-bend the armored shielding. Maintain the manufacturer's recommended minimum bend radius to avoid internal coaxial damage.
Sensor End Coupling: Thread the standard coaxial connector securely onto the accelerometer. Finger-tighten, then torque to specification using a calibrated wrench if required by your site asset-protection manual.
Isolate from Noise: Route the cable through dedicated, grounded industrial conduits. Keep it separated from high-voltage AC power lines to prevent signal degradation

Technical notes

The sensor operates from a –18 VDC to –24 VDC power supply. The complete transducer system consists of three components: a probe with integral coaxial cable, an extension cable, and the Proximitor sensor. The 18745-04 unit includes a 9.0-metre (29.5-foot) integral cable. All 7200 proximity transducer systems are compatible with Bently Nevada 3300 and 9000 monitoring systems.

FAQs

  • What is the 18745-04?

    +
The Bently Nevada 18745-04 is a 7200 Series Proximitor Sensor designed for non-contact, gap-to-voltage measurement of static and dynamic distances.
  • Can I mix and match this with 3300 XL probes?

    +
No. The 18745-04 is specifically calibrated for the 7200 Series probe system. Mixing series will cause inaccurate readings and equipment faults.
  • What components make up the full measurement system?

    +
A standard system requires three matching 7200 Series components: the proximity probe, the extension cable, and the Proximitor Sensor (18745-04). All three must be calibrated to the same system length (typically 9 meters).
  • How far can the Proximitor Sensor be placed from the monitor?

    +
It can be located up to 1,000 feet (about 305 meters) from standard Bently Nevada monitors without experiencing signal degradation
