Description

The 990-04-70-01-00 is a Vibration Transmitter manufactured by Bently Nevada for machinery condition monitoring applications. The 990-04-70-01-00 is intended primarily for the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer to provide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as the input to their machinery control system. The 990-04-70-01-00 is a two-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from Bently Nevada's 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable.

The 990 Vibration Transmitter is intended primarily for theoriginal equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal aircompressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer toprovide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal asthe input to their machinery control system. The transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device thataccepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and itsmatching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m systemlength options).

The transmitter conditions the signal into appropriate peakto-peak vibration amplitude engineering units, and providesthis value as a proportional 4 to 20 mA industry-standardsignal as the input to the control system where machineryprotection alarming and logic occurs.

Information

Overview Manuals Application Notes Product Applications Electrical Connections

Features:

  • Integrated Proximitor Sensor with No External Unit Required
  • 4 to 20 mA Proportional Vibration Signal Output
  • Non-isolated "PROX OUT" and Coaxial Connector for Diagnostics
  • Non-interacting Zero and Span Potentiometers
The transmitter accepts input from one non-contacting Bently Nevada 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable, with a system length of 7.0 meters (23.0 feet). The integrated Proximitor sensor eliminates the need for an external signal conditioning unit. The probe must be gapped between 0.5 and 1.75 mm from the target surface, with a minimum target size of 9.5 mm diameter.

The 4–20 mA output is generated in a 2-wire loop-powered configuration, requiring +12 to +35 V DC at the transmitter terminal. Maximum loop resistance is 1,000 Ω at 35 V DC. Loop accuracy is within ±1.5 % over the specified full-scale range. The frequency response spans 5 Hz to 6,000 Hz (+0, –3 dB). Current limiting is set at 23 mA typical.

The 990-04-70-01-00 Bently Nevada Vibration Transmitter may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Bently Nevada 990-04-70-01-00 Vibration Transmitter Manuals, Datasheets, Drivers, Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
A Not OK / Signal Defeat circuit is built into the transmitter. If a proximity probe fault or loose connection occurs, the output drops below 3.6 mA within 100 microseconds, preventing false high outputs in the control system. Normal operation automatically resumes 2–3 seconds after the fault condition clears. At power-up, the output is held below 3.6 mA for approximately 2 seconds to inhibit false alarms during initialization.
Non-isolated Proximitor sensor output is available with an output impedance of 50 Ω, a linear range of 1.4 mm (55 mils) beginning at approximately 0.25 mm from the target surface, and an incremental scale factor of 7.87 mV/μm (200 mV/mil) ±6.5 %. Temperature stability is within ±0.05 %/°C of full scale.
Zero and span adjustments are accessible under the transmitter label via non-interacting potentiometers, simplifying field calibration. A test input pin allows loop signal verification without removing the transmitter from service.
  • Oil/Gas (Downstream): Monitors auxiliary pumps, cooling fans, and lube skid pumps in non-hazardous refinery areas
  • Chemical/Petrochemical: Monitors transfer pumps and agitators to prevent seal breaches from misalignment
  • Power Generation: Tracks shaft motion on smaller steam/hydro turbines and boiler feed pumps
  • Water/Wastewater: Prevents bearing failure on high-volume pumps, blowers, and aerators
  • Manufacturing/HVAC: Oversees plant-air centrifugal compressors for automation lines

Power Supply: The transmitter requires a DC power supply of +12 V to +35 V DC at the terminal.
Signal/Power Wiring: Connect your twisted, shielded pair cable to the transmitter's power terminals. Connect the positive (+) and negative (-) lines to the corresponding terminals in the control loop.
Probe Connection: Connect the coaxial cable from the proximity probe directly to the coaxial input connector on the transmitter.
Grounding: Proper grounding of the cable shield is required to prevent electrical noise from interfering with the vibration signal.
