Description

The BENTLY NEVADA 990-04-70-01-05 990 Vibration Transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered vibration monitoring device for use with compatible 3300 NSv proximity probes and matching extension cables. It is commonly used on centrifugal air compressors, small pumps, motors, fans, and other rotating machinery where a continuous proportional vibration signal is required for connection to a PLC, DCS, SCADA, or machinery control system.

The transmitter receives the proximity probe signal and processes the measured shaft vibration into a proportional 4–20 mA output. The 990-04 configuration provides a full-scale measurement range of 0–4 mils peak-to-peak, equivalent to 0–100 μm peak-to-peak. This allows the connected control or monitoring system to receive a standardized analog signal representing the measured vibration amplitude.

The 990 Vibration Transmitter is intended primarily for theoriginal equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal aircompressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer toprovide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal asthe input to their machinery control system. The transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device thataccepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and itsmatching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m systemlength options).

The 990-04-70-01-05 is a Bently Nevada 990 Vibration Transmitter primarily for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors, or fans. The 990-04-70-01-05 provides a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as the input to machinery control systems where machinery protection alarming and logic are required.

The 990-04-70-01-05 is a two-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from the 3300 NSv proximity probe and its matching extension cable. The 990-04-70-01-05 is available with 5 m and 7 m system length options. The 990-04-70-01-05 conditions the signal into appropriate peak-to-peak vibration amplitude engineering units and provides this value as a proportional 4 to 20 mA industry-standard signal.

The 990-04-70-01-05 Bently Nevada 990 Vibration Transmitter may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Bently Nevada 990-04-70-01-05 990 Vibration Transmitter Manuals, Datasheets, Drivers, Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
The 990-04-70-01-05 features an integrated Proximitor Sensor that requires no external unit. The 990-04-70-01-05 provides non-isolated "PROX OUT" and "COM" terminals plus a coaxial connector to provide a dynamic vibration and gap voltage signal output for diagnostics. The "PROX OUT" coaxial connector on the 990-04-70-01-05 provides a non-isolated dynamic transducer signal for machinery diagnostics that can be connected directly to battery-powered or isolated test equipment.
The 990-04-70-01-05 includes non-interacting zero and span potentiometers under the transmitter label that support loop adjustment. The 990-04-70-01-05 also features a Test Input pin for quick verification of loop signal output using a function generator as the input.
The 990-04-70-01-05 incorporates a Not OK/Signal Defeat circuit that prevents high outputs or false alarms due to a faulty proximity probe or loose connection. The 990-04-70-01-05 is compatible with the 3300 NSv proximity probe, allowing transducer installation in small areas with minimal clearance typical of centrifugal air compressors.
  • Oil/Gas Refineries: Mounted on compressors, pumps, and turbomachinery handling volatile fluids
  • Power Generation: Protects probes on steam/gas turbines and generators
  • Chemical/Petrochemical: Ensures sensor reliability on mixers, expanders, and blowers in corrosive/explosive environments
  • Water/Wastewater: Used on large-scale distribution pumps and aeration blowers

Power & 4-20 mA Loop: Connect standard twisted-pair shielded cable to the transmitter's + (Plus) and – (Minus / COM) terminals. The loop requires a +12 to +35 Vdc input.
Grounding: To prevent ground loop interference, ensure the cable shield is grounded at a single point, usually at the control system or monitoring cabinet.
Diagnostics (PROX OUT): For temporary field diagnostics or System 1 setups, use the front-facing BNC connector or the hardwired PROX OUT and COM terminals.
This connection provides a non-isolated dynamic transducer signal.

Technical notes

The 990 Vibration Transmitter incorporates an integrated Proximitor Sensor, eliminating the need for a separate external Proximitor Sensor for the transmitter system. In addition to the primary 4–20 mA vibration output, the unit provides non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals together with a coaxial connection for dynamic vibration and gap-voltage signals used for diagnostic purposes.

FAQs

  • What is the required input power for this transmitter?

    +
The transmitter requires a loop-powered input of +12 to +35 Vdc at the transmitter terminal.
  • What type of probe is compatible with this model?

    +
It is designed to be compatible only with 3300 NSv (Non-Standard velocity) proximity probes and extension cables.
  • What happens if the proximity probe fails or gets disconnected?

    +
The transmitter features a "Not OK/Signal Defeat" circuit. This detects faulty proximity probes or loose connections, preventing the unit from outputting falsely high signals or triggering false alarms in your control system
  • Does it offer dynamic signal outputs for advanced diagnostics?

    +
Yes, it features a non-isolated PROX OUT terminal, a COM terminal, and an onboard coaxial connector. These connection points provide raw, dynamic vibration signals and gap voltages to field technicians connecting portable data collectors or machinery analyzers.
