Description

The 990 Vibration Transmitter is intended primarily for theoriginal equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal aircompressors or small pumps, motors, or fans who prefer toprovide a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal asthe input to their machinery control system.

The transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device thataccepts input from our 3300 NSv proximity probe and itsmatching extension cable (available in 5 m and 7 m systemlength options). The transmitter conditions the signal into appropriate peakto-peak vibration amplitude engineering units, and providesthis value as a proportional 4 to 20 mA industry-standardsignal as the input to the control system where machineryprotection alarming and logic occurs

Features:

  • Integrated Proximitor Sensor
  • Non-Isolated PROX OUT and COM Terminals with Coaxial Connector
  • Non-Interacting Zero and Span Potentiometers
  • Test Input Pin for Quick Verification
  • Potted Construction for High Humidity Environments
The BENTLY NEVADA 990-05-XX-01-00 MOD:165335-01 990 Vibration Transmitter is a compact industrial vibration monitoring device used for continuous measurement of rotating machinery vibration. It is intended for applications involving equipment such as centrifugal air compressors, pumps, motors, and fans, where the control system requires a standard analog vibration signal for monitoring and alarm processing.

The transmitter operates as a two-wire, loop-powered device and accepts the signal from a compatible Bently Nevada 3300 NSv proximity probe and matching extension cable. The integrated Proximitor Sensor eliminates the need for a separate external Proximitor interface in the transmitter installation. The measured vibration signal is conditioned and converted into a proportional 4–20 mA DC output for transmission to a machinery control or monitoring system.

The 990-05-XX-01-00 MOD:165335-01 Bently Nevada 990 Vibration Transmitter may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 990 Vibration Transmitter's PROX OUTcoaxial connector provides a non-isolateddynamic transducer signal for machinerydiagnostics. You can connect this signaldirectly to battery-powered or isolated testequipment to diagnose machinery problems. However, since the PROX OUT signal is notisolated from the 4 to 20 mA loop signal, aninterface is available (and stronglyrecommended) for signal isolation.

The990/991 Test Adapter conditions the 990Transmitter's PROX OUT signal for use with acpowered test equipment. It also inverts andisolates the 990's transducer signal, making itsuitable for equipment such as oscilloscopesand analyzers, and preserving industrystandard conventions for signal polarity. Westrongly recommend the use of this testadapter for all applications to maintain isolation between test equipment and the loopsignal, and ensure that the installationmaintains machinery protection integrity.

Option 1: DIN-Rail Mounting (-01 Option): Snap the transmitter directly onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail.
Option 2: Bulkhead Mounting: Secure the transmitter directly to a flat surface panel using the integrated mounting flanges and appropriate screws.
Environmental Tip: The device has a potted construction to survive up to 100% condensing humidity. However, avoid routing its field wiring near high-voltage cables to minimize electromagnetic interference

Technical notes

The transmitter provides a standard 4–20 mA output proportional to vibration amplitude. The output can be connected directly to a control system analog input for continuous monitoring, alarm logic, trend recording, and machinery condition assessment. The specified loop output accuracy is approximately ±1.5%, with a frequency response of approximately 5 Hz to 6 kHz.

FAQs

  • What is the purpose of the 990-05-XX-01-00 transmitter?

    +
It accepts input from a Bently Nevada 3300 NSv proximity probe and extension cable, conditions the signal into peak-to-peak vibration amplitude units, and provides a proportional 4-20 mA industry-standard signal to a control system for machinery monitoring and protection
  • What input does the transmitter accept?
