Description
The EATON EMT6-DB (part number 066401) is a thermistor overload relay designed for machine protection in industrial motor control applications. The EMT6-DB monitors thermistor sensors used for temperature monitoring and switches off the power relay in the event of overtemperature in the machinery, providing direct temperature-based protection that complements current-dependent overload relays
The EMT6-DB supports both automatic and manual reset methods, with additional features including remote reset capability, a test button for functional verification, and a selector switch for MANUAL/AUTO reset configuration. The EMT6-DB also provides short-circuit recognition in the sensor circuit, ensuring reliable fault detection. When using the EMT6-DB, a current monitor must be used in the thermistor circuit to monitor short-circuits, as the EMT6-DB does not include built-in short-circuit monitoring.
The EMT6-DB operates with a 230V AC control supply voltage at 50/60 Hz, with an operating voltage range of 0.85 to 1.1 times the rated voltage. The power consumption of the EMT6-DB is approximately 3.5 VA at AC. The relay operates from a fixed 230 V AC control supply voltage at 50/60 Hz. It continuously monitors the resistance of a single thermistor measuring circuit across a range of 750 to 12,000 Ω. When the motor temperature exceeds the thermistor's rated response temperature, the resistance increases sharply. The relay trips at approximately 3,600 Ω, opening the normally closed contact and closing the normally open contact to signal the fault condition. The relay resets at approximately 1,600 Ω once the thermistor cools down.

The relay provides one normally open contact and one normally closed contact, each rated for a conventional thermal current of 6 A. The contacts are suitable for AC-14 and AC-15 load categories at various voltage levels, with ratings from 1 A at 380/400/415 V AC-15 to 3 A at 220/230/240 V AC-15. Short-circuit protection is provided by a maximum 6 A gG/gL fuse on the contact circuit.
Front panel features include a mains power LED, a fault LED, a separate test button for functional verification, and provisions for external reset. The test button allows operators to verify relay operation without waiting for an actual over-temperature event.
