The Enhanced Genius Communications Module (GCM+), IC693CMM302, is an intelligent modulethat provides automatic global data communications between a Series 90-30 PLC and up to 31other devices on a Genius bus.The GCM+ can be located in any standard Series 90-30 CPU baseplate, expansion baseplate, orremote baseplate. However, for most efficient operation, it is recommended that the module beinstalled in the CPU baseplate since the sweep impact time of the GCM+ module depends on themodel of PLC and the baseplate where it is located.
The IC693CMM302 maintains system stability through internal logic and communication safeguards:
Error Monitoring: The module generates specific error codes to protect the PLC from misconfiguration. For example, REF ER indicates that assigned addresses exceed PLC limits, while GCM ERR prevents the dangerous concurrent installation of both a standard GCM and an Enhanced GCM+ in the same PLC.
Isolation from I/O Control: While the module can monitor data from Genius I/O blocks, it has no ability to control them, providing a layer of protection against unauthorized or accidental I/O state changes through the communication module.
IC693CMM302 Can be placed in any standard CPU, expansion, or remote baseplate. For maximum efficiency, installation in the CPU baseplate is recommended.
