Description
The RORZE RD-323MS is a 2-PH Microstepping Motor Driver designed for high-resolution stepping motor control applications. The RD-323MS enables microstep drive of 2-phase stepping motors using a unipolar, constant current chopper method, providing smooth and precise motor operation.
The RD-323MS features a built-in pulse oscillator that eliminates the need for an external pulse generator, allowing the RD-323MS to combine easily with PLC, microcomputer, or RORZE controller systems. The RD-323MS supports selectable microstep resolution of 50, 64, or 80 microsteps per step via DIP switch configuration, enabling users to optimize between positioning precision and system response. The RD-323MS achieves position repeatability of ±1 microstep with no load in one direction when configured at 50 microsteps per step.
The RD-323MS operates from a single supply voltage of 18 to 40VDC (including ripple) and delivers a motor current of 0.3 to 3A per phase, adjustable via the Run Current Adjustment Trimmer. The RD-323MS features a current range switch (3A/1.5A) that sets the motor run current range when the run current adjustment trimmer is set to maximum value.

Motor current is adjustable from 0.3 A to 3.0 A per phase using the front-panel Run Current Adjustment Trimmer, with a current range selection switch setting the maximum trimmer range to either 1.5 A or 3.0 A. The Stop Current Adjustment Trimmer sets the holding current to any value between 0 % and 80 % of the run current, with a factory default of 50 %. An automatic current down function reduces the motor current to the stop current setting approximately 0.3 seconds after the motor becomes stationary, reducing heat generation during idle periods.

The RD-323MS is suitable for use with any hybrid (HB) or permanent magnet (PM) 2-phase stepping motor rated between 0.3 A and 3.0 A per phase, with a voltage rating less than 70 % of the supply voltage. Recommended RORZE motors include the RM2414S/D (1.4 kgf·cm), RM2424S/D (2.4 kgf·cm), RM2621S/D (2.1 kgf·cm), RM2640S/D (4.0 kgf·cm), RM2690S/D (8.0 kgf·cm), and RM26A3S/D (13.0 kgf·cm) series.
The driver measures 27.5 mm in height, 105 mm in width, and 56 mm in depth, with a weight of approximately 250 g. Adequate heat dissipation must be provided to keep the driver case temperature below 60 °C and the motor case temperature below 100 °C, achieved through drive current adjustment or installation of cooling fins and fans as necessary.
