          Siemens 6ES7288-5AQ01-0AA0 is the SIMATIC S7-200 SMART SB AQ01 signal board. It adds one analog output to a supported CPU, selectable as a bipolar voltage signal from -10 to +10 V or a current signal from 0 to 20 mA. These are alternative operating modes of one channel, not two independent outputs.

            No. SB AQ01 contains one output selectable for voltage or current. It does not contain one channel of each type. A second independent demand requires another appropriately supported output channel.

          • Why does the product overview say 12-bit voltage while the table says 11 bits plus sign?

            The descriptions count the same signed voltage representation differently. The detailed manual specifies 11 bits plus a sign bit for voltage and 11 bits for current. Use the configured mode and its data range when writing the output word.

          • Can a 250 Ohm receiver be driven in either output mode?

            It meets the published maximum 600 Ohm load criterion for current mode, but not the minimum 1000 Ohm criterion for voltage mode. Check the complete connected load and receiver signal specification before choosing the mode.

          • Does placing the CPU in STOP necessarily force this output to zero?

            No. The output can retain its last value or use a configured substitute value. Zero is the default substitute, not a guarantee for every project. Verify the saved STOP setting against the required process response.

          • Which X19 terminal is signal return and which is functional earth?

            The exact board pin table assigns AQ0 to pin5, AQ0M to pin6 and functional earth to pin4. Pins1 through3 have no connection. Do not interchange the signal return and functional-earth connections.

          • Does the 300 microsecond figure describe every load and operating mode?

            No. It is the voltage settling time to 95% for a resistive load. The manual separately gives 750 microseconds at 1 microfarad, and current-mode values of 600 microseconds at 1 millihenry or 2 milliseconds at 10 millihenries.

          • Why is wire-break diagnosis unavailable for a voltage-configured output?

            The published diagnostic table assigns wire-break detection to current mode only, and short-to-ground detection to voltage mode only. Select the actual mode in the project and design monitoring for the corresponding available diagnostics.

          • Is SB AQ01 an isolating barrier between the PLC and an external cabinet?

            No. Siemens lists no isolation between the field side and logic. Assess grounding and potential differences as part of the full circuit design; do not use this board as a protective or galvanic isolation device.
