The WAGO 788-412 is a compact relay module for industrial automation and control applications. This module features a nominal input voltage of 24 VDC with an input voltage range of ±10%, drawing a rated input current of 17 mA. It is equipped with 2 changeover contacts (DPDT configuration), enabling versatile switching of both normally open and normally closed circuits.

The relay contacts are constructed from silver-nickel (AgNi) material with gold plating, providing superior electrical conductivity and resistance to oxidation. The module supports a limiting continuous current of 8 A per contact, with a maximum switching voltage of 250 VAC. For resistive AC loads, the maximum switching capacity is 2000 VA. The module is also rated for AC-15 loads at 3 A / 250 VAC and DC-13 loads at 2 A / 24 VDC. For low-level switching applications, the recommended minimum load is 5 V / 2 mA / 50 mW.

The 788-412 WAGO Relay module may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The 788-412 features a red LED status indicator that provides immediate visual feedback on the relay's energized/de-energized state, facilitating quick troubleshooting and maintenance. The module employs WAGO's proven push-in connection technology (CAGE CLAMP®), accommodating solid conductors from 0.34 mm² to 2.5 mm² (22–14 AWG) and stranded conductors of the same range, with a stripping length of 9–10 mm.

With a compact width of only 15 mm, the module is designed for space-efficient installation on standard DIN-35 rails. The enclosure provides IP20 protection. The relay exhibits typical operating characteristics including a pick-up time of approximately 7 ms, a drop-out time of 3 ms, and a bounce time of approximately 6 ms. The electrical service life is rated at 100,000 switching cycles for normally open contacts under resistive load at 23°C, while the mechanical service life reaches 30,000,000 switching cycles. The maximum switching frequency is 10 cycles per minute under load and 1200 cycles per minute without load.

This content has been produced using multiple sources.Amikon takes no responsibility for the accuracy of this information. Always consult the original equipment manufacturer for the most up to date instructions and information.
De-energize Systems: Never work on the module or panel while circuits are energized. Disconnect all power sources prior to installation or maintenance to avoid high-voltage electric shocks.
Mind Thermal Limits: Housing surfaces heat up during normal operation. Allow the module to cool down completely before touching or swapping out the inner pluggable relay.

FAQs

  • What is the WAGO 788-412 ?

    +
The WAGO 788-412 is a pluggable relay module featuring a 24 VDC coil, dual (DPDT) changeover contacts, and hard gold-plated silver-nickel contacts.
  • Does the module include a status indicator?

    +
Yes, it features a built-in red status LED indicator on the module housing for clear visual diagnostics.
  • What wire sizes are compatible?

    +
It accepts solid or stranded conductors up to 2.50 mm² (22–12 AWG).
  • What is the current threshold to protect the gold plating?

    +
To prevent evaporating the gold layer, do not exceed a switching voltage of 30 VDC or a current of 50 mA. Higher power will burn off the gold, converting it to standard silver-nickel behavior.
  • Why does this model have gold contacts?

    +
Hard gold-plated silver-nickel (AgNi + Au) contacts provide low contact resistance. This makes them ideal for switching low-power, signal-level loads reliably without oxidation.
