Description

The Allen-Bradley 1771-NC6 is a cable used for connecting Remote Terminal Panels or RTPs to Allen-Bradley 1771-N series analog modules.  The Allen-Bradley 1771-N modules are made to work with Allen-Bradley PLC-3, PLC-5, and Allen-Bradley PLC-5/250 programmable controllers when the modules and the programmable controllers are connected with a cable like the 1771-NC6 cable.

The 1771-N modules are purpose-built for applications where high resolution and good noise immunity are required. These modules make use of 16-bit analog-to-digital converters and of 14-bit digital-to-analog converters for achieving the desired resolution and precision. The N-series modules are designed and tested to provide 1000V isolation between all the channels, which ensures that noise signals, voltage transients, or shorts/overloads on one channel will not affect any other channel. Calibration is required once a year and can be done from the PLC processor.

Prepare the Chassis Slots: Key the backplane to prevent incorrect module insertion. Place the plastic keying bands in the chassis connector between 10 and 12 and 22 and 24.
Route the Cable: Connect the first 25-pin connector of the 1771-NC6 cable to the front of the isolated analog I/O module. Route the cable cleanly through the chassis wiring troughs.
Terminate: Connect the second 25-pin end of the cable directly to your compatible Remote Termination Panel (RTP).

Technical notes

The 1771-NC6 connects to remote termination panels that are designed for mounting on standard DIN 1 or DIN 3 mounting rails, facilitating organized and professional control cabinet installations. The 1771-NC6 is also available in a longer 15-foot variant (1771-NC15) for installations requiring extended cable runs between I/O modules and termination panels.
