Power Down: Turn off all power to the 1771 I/O chassis and the PLC-5 controller to prevent memory loss or processor faults.Attach Connector Header: Remove the processor from the chassis. Snap the 62-pin connector header (often called a "comb") into the connector on the right side of the 1785-ENET module.Mate Module to Processor: Align the connector header with the mating connector on the left side of the PLC-5 processor. Firmly press them together and secure the assembly using the provided mounting screws.

FAQs

  • What is the 1785-ENET?

    +
The Allen-Bradley 1785-ENET is a sidecar module designed to provide Ethernet communication capabilities to "Enhanced" PLC-5 processors (Series B or later, or specific late-model Classic processors).
  • What is the 1785-ENET Connection Type?

    +
The 1785-ENET is a single-slot sidecar module that physically mounts directly to the left side of a PLC-5 processor, connecting via a 62-pin header. It features an RJ45 connector for 10/100 Mbps Ethernet communications
  • What indicates a faulty 1785-ENET setup?

    +
The module status LED (STAT) will flash an error code 37 if the attached PLC-5 processor is not compatible.
  • Can I use two cards in one PLC?

    +
No, Rockwell Automation typically supports only one 1785-ENET card per processor. For dual-subnet needs, consider a processor with built-in Ethernet like the PLC-5/40E
