Description
The Bently Nevada 31000 Proximity Probe Housing Assembly is fully compliant with API 670 requirements for externally mounted proximity probe housings. It provides Type 4X and IP66 protection and can be used in intrinsically safe hazardous-area applications when installed with an approved transducer system and appropriate intrinsically safe barriers. However, the 31000 housing itself is intended for mechanical and environmental protection and is not an explosion-proof housing.
Use of a Proximity probe housing allows external access tothe proximity probe and its extension cable, permitting gapadjustment or probe replacement without disassembly of themachine. The 31000/32000 Proximity Probe Housing Assemblyis made of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), an advanced, highstrength, thermoplastic with excellent corrosion resistance.Other elements of the housing assembly are made ofcorrosion-resistant stainless steel. The housing can beordered with installed 3300 XL Proximity Probes and a varietyof conduit fittings.

The 31000/32000 Proximity Probe HousingAssembly is designed to seal differentialpressure between the probe tip and thehousing main body when used with a 3300 XL 8mm probe. The sealing material internal to theprobe case consists of a Viton O-ring; the Oring between the sleeve and the housing is aNeoprene O-ring. The plastic housing iscertified to seal against hose-directed wateraccording to NEMA 4X and IP66 standards butis not designed to resist internal or externalpressure. Probes are not pressure tested priorto shipment. Contact our custom designdepartment if you require a test of the pressureseal for your application.

Extension cable: Disconnect or hold the probe cable free during initial mechanical alignment, then snap the coaxial connectors together securely once aligned.
Protector and seal: Fit the connector protector over the coaxial joint to prevent grounding or shorting against the metal housing wall.
Housing assembly: Slide the retainer under the retaining nut, tighten the housing base, connect any external conduit to the 3/4-14 NPT fittings, and fasten the housing cover captive screws to 0.5 N-m (5 in-lbs) if hole plugs are used.

+Install the outer sleeve into the machine case, insert the probe sleeve to adjust your electrical gap voltage to ~−10 VDC, secure the retainer, and lock the outer cap. -
