Description

The 3300/50 Tachometer continuously measures shaft rotative speed, rotativeacceleration, or provides an output for zero speed indication. The tachometerprovides a proportional voltage or current output on the rear terminal strip andsupplies Alert status via relay contacts for use with an external annunciatorpanel.Although a single channel monitor, the 3300/50 Tachometer accepts inputs fromtwo transducers. Voting logic between the two transducers is internal to themonitor, minimizing false indications in the event of a single transducer failure.

Bently Nevada 3300/50 Tachometers are not designed for use independently as,or as a component of, a speed control or overspeed protection system. BentlyNevada 3300/50 Tachometers do not provide protective redundancy and theresponse speed needed for reliable operation as a speed control or overspeedprotection system. Where provided, the analog proportional output is suitablefor data logging or chart recording purposes only. Also, where provided, speedalert setpoints are suitable for annunciation purposes only.

3300/50 Tachometer continuously measures shaft rotative speed, rotative acceleration, or provides an output for zero speed indication. The tachometer provides a proportional voltage or current output on the rear terminal strip and supplies Alert status via relay contacts for use with an external annunciator panel. Although a single channel monitor, the 3300/50 Tachometer accepts inputs from two transducers. Voting logic between the two transducers is internal to the monitor, minimizing false indications in the event of a single transducer failure.

The 3300/50 is configured as a Zero Speed Tachometer (Option 02), providing an output for zero speed indication to detect when shaft rotation has ceased. The 3300/50 includes field-programmable options for alarm configuration, including latching or nonlatching alarm reset, overspeed or underspeed alert modes, and zero speed hysteresis threshold settings selectable at 0 rpm, 1 rpm, 5 rpm, or 10 rpm.

The 3300/50-02-02-00-00 Bently Nevada Tachometer may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The BENTLY NEVADA 3300/50-02-02-00-00 is configured with Option 02, which specifies a Zero Speed Tachometer. This configuration is intended for applications where confirmation of shaft rotation or machine standstill is required. The monitor provides proportional voltage or current outputs on the rear terminal strip while simultaneously supplying Alert status through relay contacts for external annunciation systems.

The BENTLY NEVADA 3300/50-02-02-00-00 includes Option 02 for a hermetically sealed Alert relay, providing reliable switching performance in industrial environments. Option 00 indicates that agency approval is not required, while the second Option 00 specifies that no external safety barrier is included. The monitor is intended for installation within a standard 3300 Series rack as part of a complete machinery protection system
  • Turbines: Monitors steam/gas turbines in power generation plants
  • Compressors: Safeguards centrifugal, axial, and reciprocating compressors in oil/gas processing
  • Pumps & Fans: Tracks large fluid-handling pumps and ventilation systems
  • Generators & Motors: Detects shaft imbalances or bearing defects in heavy electric drives
  • Keyphasor Distribution: Buffers and distributes phase reference and speed tracking data

Thread Selection: Match the probe thread size (such as 3/8-24 or M10x1) to the mounting hole or bracket on the machine.
Gap Adjustment: Screw the probe inward until the tip lightly touches the shaft target, then back it out to reach the linear range—typically targeting a -10 VDC gap voltage (within a -9 V to -11 V DC range) using a digital multimeter.
Locking: Tighten the locknut firmly against the mounting bracket to lock the probe position in place without shifting the gap.

Technical notes

The BENTLY NEVADA 3300/50-02-02-00-00 provides front-panel buffered transducer outputs that allow portable analyzers or diagnostic instruments to access the transducer signals without interrupting machine protection functions. The module supports continuous operation on turbines, compressors, pumps, motors, generators, and other critical rotating equipment where reliable speed monitoring is essential. The manufacturer notes that this monitor is not intended for overspeed protection; applications requiring overspeed protection should use dedicated overspeed detection monitors.

FAQs

  • Can the 3300/50 operate with a single transducer?

    +
Yes. While it supports dual inputs for voting logic, it can function with a single transducer input.
  • What types of sensors are compatible?

    +
It works with standard proximity probe systems and magnetic speed pickups.
  • How does it prevent false shutdown triggers?

    +
Internal voting logic compares inputs from both connected transducers so a single sensor failure does not trigger a false alert or trip state.
  • Can it operate with a single transducer?

    +
Yes. While it features dual-channel hardware that supports two independent transducer inputs, it can run on a single input. When dual sensors are used, the module applies internal voting logic to filter out false alarms if one transducer fails
