This probe features a 3/8-24 UNF imperial mounting thread with a 0.0-inch unthreaded length and an overall case length of 7.2 inches (182.88 mm). The probe tip diameter is 8.0 mm, constructed from Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS), while the probe case is made from AISI 303 or 304 stainless steel. This variant is supplied with armor (base model 330102).
The armor consists of a flexible AISI 302 or 304 stainless steel braid with a protective outer jacket, providing mechanical protection for the cable in harsh industrial environments where abrasion, crushing, or rodent damage may occur. The armor covers the entire cable length except for the terminal 300 mm (11.8 in) at each end to allow connector access. The armored cable has an outside diameter of 7.67 mm (0.302 in) maximum, with armor ferrules measuring 10.2 mm (0.40 in) maximum in diameter. The armored cable weighs 64 g/m (0.7 oz/ft).

The probe is equipped with a 1.0-metre 75 Ω triaxial cable using Fluoroethylene Propylene (FEP) insulation. The cable terminates in a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with a connector protector, featuring gold-plated brass contacts. The connector protector provides a seal against contamination and moisture ingress at the probe-to-extension cable connection point. Silicone tape is included as a supplementary sealing method, though it is not recommended for applications where the connection will be exposed to turbine oil.
The 3300 XL 8 mm system delivers an output voltage directly proportional to the distance between the probe tip and the observed conductive surface. The linear range is 2.0 mm (80 mils), spanning from approximately 0.25 mm to 2.3 mm, with an output voltage range of approximately -1 Vdc to -17 Vdc. The Incremental Sensitivity Factor (ISF) is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) with a ±5% tolerance (including interchangeability error) from 0°C to +45°C. The recommended radial vibration gap setting is -9 Vdc, corresponding to approximately 1.27 mm (50 mils).
