Description

The Bently Nevada 16710-21 is a Standard Armored Interconnect Cable used with compatible Bently Nevada 330400 and 330425 three-wire piezoelectric accelerometers. It features a 3-conductor shielded 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) armored cable, with a 3-socket plug at one end and terminal lugs at the other end.

The 330450 High Temperature Acceleration System (HTAS)segregates the sensing element from the signal conditioningelectronics, with the two permanently connected via ahardline cable. Due to the segregated design, the signalconditioning electronics can be installed in a coolerlocation. This achieves overall transducer systemperformance comparable to other acceleration transducers, but permits use at significantly higher temperatures.

Features:

  • 3-conductor shielded armored cable
  • 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) conductor size
  • 9 ft cable length
  • Suitable for industrial machinery monitoring installations
The BENTLY NEVADA 16710-21 uses a 3-conductor shielded 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) armored cable. The armored construction provides additional mechanical protection for installations where the cable is routed outside conduit or may be exposed to mechanical stresses. The BENTLY NEVADA 16710-21 is equipped with a 3-socket plug at the accelerometer end and terminal lugs at the monitor end. The cable is designed to mate with compatible Bently Nevada accelerometer connectors and provide terminal-based connection to the monitoring system.

The 16710-21 Bently Nevada Standard ArmoredInterconnect Cable may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Most common machine malfunctions(unbalance, misalignment, etc.)occur on the rotor and originate as anincrease (or at least a change) inrotor vibration. For any individualcasing measurement to be effectivefor overall machine protection, thesystem must continually transmit asignificant amount of rotor vibrationto the machine casing, or mountinglocation of the transducer. In addition, be careful to install theaccelerometer transducer on thebearing housing or machine casing.Improper installation may decreasethe transducer amplitude andfrequency response and/or generatefalse signals that do not representactual vibration. Refer to theappropriate instruction manuals andApplication Notes.Upon request, Bently Nevada providesengineering services that can identifythe appropriate machine housingmeasurements and installationassistance if needed.
  • Gas & Steam Turbines: Tracks radial vibration and casing expansion under high temperatures
  • Centrifugal & Axial Compressors: Monitors shaft alignment and surge conditions
  • Electric Motors & Generators: Detects bearing wear and rotor imbalances to prevent failure
  • Pumps & Gearboxes: Continuously maps distance to fluid-film bearings

Route Safely: Pull the armored cable through conduit or cable trays carefully, avoiding sharp bends that can crush the internal armor or compromise the 22 AWG wire core.
Environmental Limits: Operates safely between -40°C and +85°C (-40°F and +185°F), protected by an oil- and chemical-resistant outer jacket.
Plug Alignment: Align the 3-socket connector carefully with the sensor pins before pushing and tightening to prevent bent pins or loose contact.

Technical notes

The BENTLY NEVADA 16710-21 specifies a 21 ft cable length, approximately 6.4 m. The 16710 cable family is available in 1 ft increments, with lengths from 3.0 ft (0.9 m) to 99 ft (30 m).The BENTLY NEVADA 16710-21 is suitable for applications requiring a shielded and armored connection for casing acceleration measurements. Compatible 330400 and 330425 accelerometers are used in critical machinery applications, including applications such as gear mesh monitoring.

FAQs

  • What sensors are compatible with the 16710-21?

    +
It is engineered to interconnect raw vibration and acceleration data from Bently Nevada 330400 and 330425 accelerometer sensor models.
  • Why does it use an armored design?

    +
The outer armor protects the internal core and insulation from physical risks like crushing, abrasion, or sharp impacts, while the inner shield blocks electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  • What are the wiring and gauge specs?

    +
It features a 22 AWG (0.5 mm²) 3-conductor shielded structure to eliminate electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  • What are the end connections?

    +
One end terminates in a 3-socket plug for the sensor, while the other end uses terminal/wiring lugs for the interface card
