The 990 Vibration Transmitter is calibrated by adjusting the zero potentiometer with no input signal to achieve 4 mA output, and the span potentiometer with a full-scale vibration signal to achieve 20 mA output. For the 991 Thrust Transmitter, the mechanical calibration method requires setting the probe gap to produce a 6.5 VDC signal (measured between Prox Out and COM) and adjusting the zero potentiometer to 12 mA (center of range); span adjustment is then performed by setting the probe gap for a full-scale signal and adjusting the span potentiometer to the corresponding loop current. Both transmitters feature a Test input pin that enables quick verification of loop signal output using a function generator (990) or variable DC source (991) without requiring machine shaft movement.
