Each PPM occupies a single slot within the system. Each PPM provides computational capacity for a large number of sensors and cansupport typical monitored machine trains. The PPM capacity is a function of thetype of processing required on each input. If the system requires more processingthan a single PPM can provide, additional PPMs can be added to the system forcomplex monitoring deployments. For protection systems, redundant PPMs arerecommended.
The Orbit Studio Configuration Software provides a System Utilization Calculator toevaluate the remaining capacity of the PPMs in your system. If a PPM processingcapacity reaches 90%, a warning indicator is displayed in Orbit Studio software,and it is recommended to add another PPM or two PPMs if the system is redundant.
The 60R/PPM01-02-0 Bently Nevada Protection Processor Module may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

Module Placement: The PPM occupies a single slot within the Orbit 60 Series Chassis (3U 12-slot, 3U 19-slot, or 6U 19-slot).
Orientation: All module insertions occur from the utility side of the chassis, while status LEDs are visible on the public side.
System Setup: The PPM requires a System Interface Module (SIM) and Power Input Module (PIM) to be installed in the chassis to function.
