The E1667 is a Braun Protection Monitoring Module designed as part of the E16x346 protection system for overspeed protection and external trip release conditions in critical rotating machinery. The E1667 operates in a Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) configuration with three independent monitors (A, B, C), where each monitor performs triple speed measurement and evaluation to ensure maximum safety and availability. The E1667 achieves a total response time to trip conditions of less than 15 milliseconds, providing rapid protection response for turbines, compressors, and other critical rotating equipment. 

The E1667 features variable overspeed alarm settings that can be configured depending on acceleration, with monitoring versus low speed serving as protection against incorrect sensor mounting or sensor malfunction. The E1667 performs permanent monitoring of speed sensors and continuous self-testing of monitor functions, with cyclic full automatic tests or externally triggered tests via the Test-Generator E1697.
