The male connector of the cable is attached to the 25-pin female connector of the expansion or remote baseplate located on the left-most part. The exposed 25-pin connector can be used to connect to another I/O bus expansion for further interconnection or connected to a terminator plug to close the I/O bus. Up to Seven (7) total instances of the cable are used with a single Series 90-30 system. The maximum, aggregate cable length must not exceed 50 feet or 15 meters, between the CPU baseplate and the last expansion baseplate or 700 feet or 213 meters from the CPU to the last remote baseplate. An unterminated expansion bus or I/O bus length exceeding the recommended measurement will result in erratic communication and I/O data exchange. With CPU 350 - 364, up to 7 expansion cable is supported while with CPU 331-314, up to 4 expansion cables is allowed.
