Each EICM contains four serial portsand one parallel port which can operateconcurrently. Each serial port can beconfigured as a Modbus master with upto seven Modbus masters per Triconchassis. A single Tricon systemsupports a maximum of two EICMs,which must reside in one logical slot.(The hot-spare feature is not availablefor the EICM, though you can replace afaulty EICM while the controller isonline.) Each serial port is uniquelyaddressed and supports either the Modbus or TriStation interface.Modbus communication can beperformed in either RTU or ASCIImode. The parallel port provides aCentronics interface to a printer.
