Description

The NORDAC SK 700E frequency inverter is designedfor the power range between 1.5 kW and 160 kW.The system works with sensorless current vectorregulation (ISD). The typical overload capacity is150% for 60 s or 200% for 3.5 s. As standard, thedevices are equipped with a brake chopper andline filter (for limit curve A according to EN 55011,up to 22 kW). The combination of a powerfulcontrol module and comprehensive protection andmonitoring systems for the controller and the motorensure great system reliability

During dynamic braking (frequency reduction) of a three phase motor, electrical energy is returned to the frequency inverter. Inorder to avoid overcurrent cut-off of the frequency inverter, the integrated brake chopper can convert the returned energy intoheat by connecting an external brake resistor. For inverter outputs up to 7.5 kW, a standard substructure resistor can be fitted;it can also be optionally equipped with a heat monitor for additionalthermal protection of the resistor. This design is no longer possible with higher frequencyinverter outputs.

Features:

  • Wide power range from 1.5 kW to 160 kW
  • Sensorless current vector regulation
  • Integrated brake chopper and line filter as standard
  • Modular Construction with Optional Accessories
The Nord SK 700E-401-340-A is a frequency inverter from the NORDAC SK 700E series for industrial motor speed control and drive applications. The SK 700E-401-340-A employs advanced flux current vector control (ISD), which dynamically optimizes the V/f ratio based on a three-phase asynchronous motor simulation model, delivering maximum starting torque and minimal speed fluctuation under varying load conditions.

The SK 700E-401-340-A is equipped with an integrated brake chopper that enables dynamic braking capability by connecting an external brake resistor. When a three-phase motor decelerates, electrical energy is regenerated and returned to the frequency inverter; the brake chopper in the SK 700E-401-340-A converts this energy into heat through the resistor, preventing overcurrent or overvoltage shutdown. The recommended brake resistor for the SK 700E-401-340-A is the SK BR1-100/400-F, which offers 100 Ω resistance with 400 W continuous output and 4 kW pulse output. All chassis resistors are UL certified and not subject to restrictions in the North American market.

The SK 700E-401-340-A Nord Frequency inverter may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).
Nord SK 700E-401-340-A Frequency inverter Manuals, Datasheets, Drivers, Link Important Notice: Other accessories, manuals, cables, calibration data, software, etc. are not included with this equipment unless listed in the above stock item description. All prices are shown in USD.
The SK 700E-401-340-A accepts a 3-phase AC input voltage of 380–480V (±10%) with an input frequency of 47–63 Hz, and delivers an output frequency range of 0–400 Hz with an output current of approximately 9.5 A. The SK 700E-401-340-A features a compact form factor measuring 281 mm in length, 123 mm in width, and 219 mm in installation depth, with a weight of approximately 4 kg. This compact design enables efficient use of control cabinet space, and the SK 700E-401-340-A can be mounted vertically with sufficient clearance for proper convection cooling.

The SK 700E-401-340-A is designed with a modular architecture that supports a range of optional accessories and expansion modules. External mains filters can be added to achieve a high degree of interference suppression (Class B per EN 55011), and additional SK CU1-xxx I/O customer units can be connected for expanded control signal interfacing. When installed according to the recommendations in the manual, the SK 700E-401-340-A meets all EMC directive requirements. With its flux vector control, integrated braking capability, wide voltage range, compact footprint, and modular expandability, the SK 700E-401-340-A is a versatile and reliable frequency inverter solution for a broad spectrum of industrial motor control applications.

FAQs

  • How long do capacitors stay charged after power-off?

    +
Internal components can retain a dangerous lethal voltage for up to 5 minutes after disconnecting the main power supply. Do not touch terminals immediately.
  • What if the motor does not start?

    +
Check the motor terminal connections, verify the main supply voltage, inspect control protective devices, and review inverter parameter settings against the motor nameplate
  • What if the motor overheats during operation?

    +
Check the cooling fan, verify minimum inverter output frequency settings, inspect ambient room temperature, and ensure the load does not exceed the 4.0 kW rating.
  • Why won't the motor start up?

    +
Verify the terminal board connections, supply voltage stability, and the control state of your protective devices. Check the integrated brake mechanics if applicable.
