The TQ403, EA403 and IQS450 form a proximitymeasurement system from Meggitt’s vibro-meter®product line. This proximity measurement systemallows contactless measurement of the relativedisplacement of moving machine elements.
The system is based around a TQ403 non-contactsensor and an IQS450 signal conditioner.Together, these form a calibrated proximitymeasurement system in which each componentis interchangeable. The sensor operates on the eddy current principle, generating a high-frequency electromagnetic field that induces eddy currents in a conductive target surface. The TQ400 series delivers a linear range of 2.0 mm (80 mils) with sensitivity of 4 mV/µm (100 mV/mil) or 8 mV/µm (200 mV/mil) depending on system configuration. System output is typically –2 VDC at the target gap. The sensor requires a companion signal conditioner (IQS450 or IQS451) and, for longer system lengths, a matching extension cable to complete the transducer system.
The probe operates continuously from –51°C to +177°C for both the probe tip and cable. Storage temperature spans the same range. Standard system lengths are 5.0 m and 9.0 m, achieved with appropriate probe and extension cable combinations.

Sensor Gap Setup: The TQ403 operates across a 12 mm measurement range. You must gap the sensor exactly in the middle of this range (typically 6 mm gap from the target machine shaft) using a feeler gauge.
