Description
The Woodward 9907-018 is a low-voltage forward-acting electronic load sharing and speed control module from the 2301A series. The unit controls load sharing and speed of generators driven by diesel engines, gasoline engines, or steam and gas turbines. These power sources are referred to as "prime movers" throughout the Woodward documentation.
The control is housed in a sheet-metal chassis and consists of a single printed circuit board. All potentiometers are accessible from the front of the chassis. The 9907-018 operates from a 20 V to 40 V DC power source and consumes no more than 15 W. The input power must be supplied from a power supply or battery charger certified to IEC standard with SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) classified output.

Grounding: Connect shields only at the control end to the grounding lug below Terminal 9. Leave the other end open and insulated to prevent ground loops.

The speed range is factory set for 2000 to 6000 Hz and can be changed via an internal switch to any of four ranges: 500 to 1500 Hz, 1000 to 3000 Hz, 2000 to 6000 Hz, or 4000 to 12000 Hz. The speed sensor input accepts magnetic pickup signals from 1.0 V AC minimum to 30 V AC maximum, with an input impedance of 100 to 300 Ω. Speed trim is adjustable via a 0 to 100 Ω external potentiometer for 0 to 10 % speed change. The rated speed potentiometer is the only multi-turn potentiometer in the control; all others are single-turn.
