Description
The ABB PM864A 3BSE018162R1 is a high-performance processor unit for the AC 800M distributed control system, a core component of ABB's System 800xA automation platform. The module is built around a 32-bit RISC PowerPC-based microprocessor running at 96 MHz, with 32 MB of RAM and 2 MB of Flash PROM for firmware storage. A CompactFlash interface on the CPU board supports additional storage for data logging and program backup.
The PM864A features two RJ45 Ethernet ports (10 Mbit/s) for connection to the Control Network, enabling communication with other controllers, operator stations, and higher-level applications. Two RJ45 serial ports (COM3 and COM4) provide RS-232C connectivity: COM3 includes modem control signals for point-to-point communication, while COM4 is an isolated RS-232C port reserved for connecting configuration tools. The baseplate includes a unique hardware Ethernet address for every CPU, providing a permanent hardware identity.
