Features:

  • 4 MB User Memory for Large Automation Programs
  • Up to 128,000 Digital I/O and 4,000 Analog I/O
  • Built-in RS-232 Serial Communication Port
  • 32 Tasks with Up to 100 Programs per Task
The 1756-L62 is a ControlLogix Logix5562 processor module from Allen-Bradley. It provides 4 MB of user memory and 478 KB of I/O memory for control program execution and data handling. Optional nonvolatile memory of 128 MB is available through installation of a 1784-CF128 Industrial CompactFlash card. With nonvolatile memory installed, the controller can operate without a battery; without it, a replacement battery is required to retain current tag data during power loss.

The module occupies a single slot in a ControlLogix chassis and can be installed in any slot position. It is compatible with 1756-A4, -A7, -A10, -A13, and -A17 chassis configurations. The processor draws 1200 mA from the 5.1 VDC backplane and 14 mA from the 24 VDC backplane. Power dissipation is 3.5 W with thermal dissipation of 11.9 BTU/hr.

The 1756-L62 Allen-Bradley Processor Module may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The controller manages up to 128,000 digital I/O points, 4,000 analog I/O points, and 128,000 total I/O points. It supports 32 tasks with up to 100 programs per task. Event tasks are supported with all event triggers. Multiple controllers can be installed in the same chassis and operate independently while communicating across the backplane.
A built-in RS-232 serial port supports ASCII, DF1 full-duplex and half-duplex, DF1 radio modem, DH-485, and Modbus communication through logic programming. Additional network interfaces are provided by separate communication modules installed in the same chassis, including EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Data Highway Plus, Remote I/O, and SynchLink. The controller supports up to 250 connections and full controller redundancy.
Integrated motion capabilities include a SERCOS interface, analog encoder input, LDT input, SSI input, and EtherNet/IP with CIP Motion. Programming is performed using relay ladder, structured text, function block, and sequential function chart (SFC) languages through RSLogix 5000 software.
  • Automotive Assembly: Coordinates paint shops/robotic lines, bridges controller data, and connects distributed I/O blocks
  • Water/Wastewater: Links main treatment plants to remote pumping stations and connects SCADA to local controllers
  • Food/Beverage: Controls packaging/sorting/bottling lines and enables explicit messaging with PanelView operator terminals
  • Oil/Gas Refining: Implemented in dual-chassis redundancy systems with automatic IP switching to maintain monitoring uptime

Power Status: Ensure the 1756 chassis backplane power is on or off depending on local safety rules; ControlLogix is designed for hot-inserter/removal (RIUP), but power off is safest.
Slot Alignment: Slide the 1756-L62 module into any slot in the 1756 1756-L62 ControlLogix Logix5562 Processor chassis alongside power supplies and I/O.
Latch Engagement: Push the top and bottom plastic latches inward and down/up to lock the processor securely into the backplane guides.
Battery & Memory: Connect the external battery assembly (like the 1756-BATM) if required, and insert a compatible CompactFlash card into the slot if non-volatile memory loading is used.
