The eddy-current sensing principle generates a voltage output precisely proportional to the gap distance between the probe tip and a conductive target surface, enabling both static position tracking and dynamic vibration analysis with 0.1 micron resolution. The probe is factory-calibrated for standard AISI 4140 steel targets and requires an initial gap setting of approximately 1.27 mm (50 mils) to achieve the nominal -9 VDC output reference point.
