The probe operates using eddy-current proximity sensing technology. The probe generates an electromagnetic field at the sensing tip. Changes in the distance between the probe tip and the conductive target cause corresponding changes in the electrical signal. The compatible 3300 XL NSv Proximitor Sensor processes this signal for use in machinery monitoring and protection systems.
 
The 3300 XL NSv system is suitable for applications including shaft vibration monitoring, radial shaft position measurement, axial position monitoring, speed measurement, and other rotating equipment condition monitoring applications. It is commonly used on compressors, turbines, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other rotating machinery.

Target Alignment: Ensure the probe tip faces a clean, smooth section of the shaft (typically AISI 4140 steel). The target area must be wider than the probe tip diameter to prevent edge interference.
Mechanical Installation: Thread the probe into the mounting bracket or machine housing manually. 
Never twist the probe by its armored cable; only use the wrench flats provided on the probe body.
Setting the Gap:Carefully thread the probe in until the tip gently touches the target surface (do not overtighten against the shaft to avoid damage).
Back the probe out by roughly 0.75 mm to 1.0 mm to position it in the middle of its linear voltage range.
Alternatively, connect the system to power and monitor the Proximitor Sensor's DC voltage output. 
Adjust the probe depth until the output reads approximately -7.0 to -9.0 Vdc (the nominal middle of the 3300 NSv linear range).
