The ICS Triplex T8310C is a Trusted Expander Processor module designed for safety-critical applications, serving as the interface between the Trusted Controller chassis and the expander chassis. It utilizes a Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture with Hardware Implemented Fault Tolerance (HIFT) to ensure system availability even if a single processing channel fails.

The module is designed with distinct Fault Containment Regions (FCR) to prevent a single point of failure from affecting the entire system.
Three Independent Channels: The T8310C contains three processor regions (FCR A, B, and C) that execute identical code in lock-step.
Voting Logic: Hardware-based voters compare the outputs of the three channels. If one channel disagrees, it is "voted out," and the system continues to operate in a 3-2-0 fault-tolerant configuration without interrupting the process.
Dual Redundant Power: The module derives internal voltages from two redundant +24 VDC power supplies provided via the backplane.
Isolation: Features basic insulation up to 50 V between the module and the backplane supply to prevent surge damage.
Conformal Coating: The "C" suffix in T8310C indicates conformal coating, which protects the internal circuitry against humidity, dust, and corrosive contaminants.
