The module provides on-boardSequence of Events (SOE) reportingwith a resolution of 1ms. The “event”is the actual sensing of the fielddevice loop current.Each triplicated section (slice) of themodule, receives output data from theTrustedTM TMR Processor and sendsits data to an internal safety layerhardware voter. Each slice uses thevoted data to control the outputs.Every output channel consists of asix-element voted array. The outputswitch array provides fault tolerant,uninterrupted control under an outputswitch failure condition. Outputswitching and fault diagnosticscomply with the demandingrequirements of IEC-61508 SIL-3 forFirst Fault - Fault Tolerant, andSecond Fault - Fail Safe outputs.
The T8451C ICS Triplex Digital Output Module may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

When a module fault is detected, theTrustedTM TMR Processor will flag theunhealthy condition, indicating theneed to replace the module. Controlcontinues until a replacement(healthy) module is available.Replacement modules can be locatedin a standby slot next to the moduleor in a designated SmartSlot with atemporary connection to the sameTrustedTM Termination Assembly.Each output is user configurable toperform line monitoring of theconnected field devices to detect fieldwiring and load failures. Automaticover-current protection is inherent inevery output circuit which eliminatesthe need for fuses.Modules may be placed in any I/Omodule slot in a TrustedTM ProcessorChassis or Expander chassis. Oncethe I/O module configuration is set,mechanical keying is available on allI/O modules to prevent inserting amodule into an incorrect slot.
