A TMR digital output (DO) modulereceives output signals from the mainprocessors on each of three channels.Each set of three signals is then votedby special quadruplicated outputcircuitry on the module. The circuitryproduces one voted output signal andpasses it to the field termination. Thequadruplicated voter circuitry providesmultiple redundancy for all criticalsignal paths, guaranteeing safety andmaximum availability.
Each TMR digital output module has avoltage-loopback circuit which verifiesthe operation of each output switchindependently of the presence of a loadand determines whether latent faults exist. Failure of the detected fieldvoltage to match the commanded stateof the output point activates theLOAD/FUSE alarm indicator.

The Fault indicatormerely indicates a channel fault, not amodule failure. The module is guaranteed to operate properly in the presenceof a single fault and may continue tooperate properly with certain kinds ofmultiple faults.
All TMR digital output modulessupport hot-spare capability, andrequire a separate external terminationpanel (ETP) with a cable interface tothe Tricon backplane. Each module ismechanically keyed to preventimproper installation in a configuredchassis.
Digital outputs are designed to sourcethe current to field devices, so fieldpower must be wired to each outputpoint on the field termination.
