3805E - TMR Analog Output Module
Triconex 3805E provides eight DC-coupled analog outputs with a commoned return. Its 12-bit output stage supplies the documented 4-20 mA operating range, with a 2-21.2 mA over-range capability and external field-loop power.
Size loop power for the actual load: the manufacturer specifies progressively higher supply voltages as resistance increases. Pwr1 and Pwr2 indicate the presence of more than 20 VDC, but do not establish adequate voltage for the attached load. Check loop voltage, current and termination before service.

Drive an engineered analog demand
Command a connected 4-20 mA receiving device through the selected output channel. Verify commanded and actual current at low, middle and high operating points against the approved control scaling. -
02 · LOOP POWER
Maintain external loop-power paths
Connect the documented redundant loop-power sources at the termination panel. Check each source against the total loop resistance and required current, rather than relying only on a lit Pwr indicator. -
03 · OUTPUT DIAGNOSTICS
Investigate missing load current
Use the Load indication together with measured loop voltage and current to locate an open or undrivable output circuit. The module monitors both the analog signal and actual selected-channel current.

Will a nominal 24 V supply meet the listed 500 ohm load requirement?
The table requires more than 25 V for 500 ohm, with a 1 A minimum supply rating. A nominal 24 V source therefore does not meet that stated case; assess the complete loop before connection. -
Why can Pwr1 be lit while a load still fails to receive current?
The indicator detects loop-power presence above 20 VDC. It does not test whether that voltage is sufficient for the connected resistance, wiring and current demand. -
Is 21.2 mA inside the quoted normal accuracy interval?
The accuracy is specified within 4-20 mA and expressed against the 0-21.2 mA full-scale range. The 2-21.2 mA capability must not be treated as an extension of the stated accuracy interval. -
What does the Load indicator help identify?
The guide states it is annunciated when current cannot be driven from an output, such as an open load. Check field wiring, loop power and the receiver before concluding the module itself has failed. -
How long can a healthy channel take to assume output after a channel failure?

Does the chassis supply provide field-loop power for these outputs?
No. Analog-output field-loop supplies must be provided externally and connected on the termination panel. The module logic-power figure is not a replacement for loop-power sizing. -
Why are two loopback circuits used for each output point?
One verifies signal accuracy and presence independently of load and selected channel; the other verifies actual current from the selected channel. The guide states detected current on a non-selected channel causes that channel to shut down.
