Each channel on the module has acurrent loopback circuit which verifiesthe accuracy and presence of analogsignals independently of load presenceor channel selection. The module’sdesign prevents a non-selected channelfrom driving an analog signal to thefield. In addition, ongoing diagnostics are performed on each channel andcircuit of the module. Failure of anydiagnostic deactivates the faultychannel and activates the Fault indicator, which in turn activates the chassisalarm. The module Fault indicatormerely indicates a channel fault, not amodule failure. The module continuesto operate properly with as many as twochannels failed. Open loop detection isprovided by a LOAD indicator whichactivates if the module is unable todrive current to one or more outputs.
