Description
The Triconex 4210 is a Remote Extender Module (RXM) as a Primary Single-Mode Remote Extender Module (SRXM) for the Triconex Safety Instrumented System (SIS). The 4210 enables remote placement of I/O modules several kilometers from the main chassis, extending the system's I/O and processing capabilities through high-integrity fiber optic communication links.
The 4210 uses sets of three identical modules that act as repeaters and bus extenders while providing complete ground loop isolation. A primary RXM set of the 4210 can support up to three separate remote locations through connection to remote RXM sets housed in remote chassis. The 4210 operates with single-mode fiber optic cables at a communication rate of 375 kilobits per second, providing maximum immunity against electro-static and electro-magnetic interference.
Remote sites can be located as far as 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) from the primary site using the 4210. For each channel of a remote location, one cable carries data transmitted from the primary 4210 to the remote RXM, and the other cable carries data received by the primary 4210 from the remote RXM.
