8311 - 24 VDC Power Module
Triconex 8311 converts a nominal 24 VDC source into 6.5 VDC chassis power. The manufacturer specifies 175 W output at 60 degrees C ambient and a maximum output current of 27 A. It is a chassis power module, not a 24 VDC field-output supply.
Provide an independent source rated at least 240 W for each power module. Normal input operation is 24 VDC minus 15% to plus 20%; the extended 19.2-36 VDC range is for short periods only. Before removal, disable incoming power to the affected module and confirm that secondary power is operating normally.

Supply the controller backplane
Convert an engineered 24 VDC source into the documented 6.5 VDC chassis supply. Account for installed controller modules and reserve at least 240 W of incoming capacity for each power source. -
02 · SOURCE REDUNDANCY
Maintain two independent power paths
Feed the two chassis power modules from separately protected sources. For critical service, the guide recommends at least one UPS sized for the connected chassis and the required outage duration. -
03 · CONTROLLED EXCHANGE
Maintain power during module service
Confirm the secondary supply is healthy and disable incoming power to the affected module before removal. Follow the special ATEX restrictions and the minimum 60-second wait before reinstalling a removed module.

24 VDC is the nominal input. The documented output is 6.5 VDC +/-1%, with 175 W output power at 60 degrees C. It must not be specified as a 24 VDC, 360 W output supply. -
May the extended 36 V input limit be used as a continuous design setpoint?
No. The guide reserves the extended 19.2-36 VDC range for short periods. Keep normal operation within 24 VDC -15% to +20% and control source-switching transients. -
Can maintenance personnel replace the internal 15 A fuse?
