Description

The CA134 is a high-temperature piezoelectricaccelerometer from Parker Meggitt’s vibro-meter ®product line. The CA134 sensor features a compression-modemeasuring element with internal case insulation in ahigh-temperature nickel alloy case (housing).

The CA134 is available as a sensor only or fitted withan integral mineral-insulated (MI) cable that isprotected by a double braid and terminated with avibro-meter ® high-temperature connector. Thesensor and cable are hermetically welded to producea sealed leaktight assembly. The sensor only versionallows different cable assemblies to be useddepending on the environmental/temperaturerequirements of the application.

All versions of the CA134 are Ex certified forinstallation in potentially explosive atmospheres(hazardous areas).

Features:

  • From the vibro-meter ® product line
  • Ex certified for use in hazardous areas
  • Symmetrical sensor with internal case insulationand differential output
  • Hermetically weldedhigh-temperature nickel alloy case
  • Available as a sensor only or with anintegral cable
The Vibro-Meter CA134 144-134-000-612 is a piezoelectric accelerometer from the vibro-meter® product line. It features a compression-mode measuring element with internal case insulation housed in a hermetically welded high-temperature nickel alloy case. The sensor is supplied as a sensor-only version without integral cable, allowing different cable assemblies to be selected depending on the environmental and temperature requirements of the application.

The accelerometer operates on a piezoelectric principle, providing a charge output that requires an external charge amplifier (IPC70x signal conditioner) for conversion to a current or voltage signal. The CA134 delivers a sensitivity of 10 pC/g ± 5% across a dynamic measurement range of 0.001 to 500 g peak, with a frequency response from 0.5 Hz to 6,000 Hz and a resonant frequency above 14 kHz.

The CA134 144-134-000-612 Vibro-Meter Piezoelectric Accelerometer may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

All prices are shown in USD.
With a sensitivity of 10 pC/g and a frequency response extending from 0.5 Hz to 6 kHz, the accelerometer is capable of accurately detecting vibration phenomena associated with imbalance, misalignment, bearing defects, mechanical looseness, resonance, and rotor dynamic behavior. The dynamic measurement range extends to 500 g peak while maintaining linearity within ±1%.

The sensor operates continuously from -54°C to +500°C, while specialized cryogenic versions support temperatures as low as -253°C (20 K). This capability allows deployment in LNG facilities, cryogenic pumps, aerospace testing environments, and gas turbine monitoring systems where standard accelerometers are unsuitable.
  • Power/Gas Turbines: Monitors fatigue, balancing, and blade health in 500°C industrial turbines
  • Cryogenic Systems: Measures micro-vibrations in LNG tanks and piping down to −253°C
  • Aerospace Testing: Simulates flight stresses and tracks resonances in engine test cells and HUMS
  • Oil/Gas Petrochemical: Tracks rotating faults and compressor wear in explosive Ex-zone environments
  • Renewable/Wind: Captures high-frequency anomalies in offshore gearboxes for predictive maintenance

Minimum Bend Radius: Maintain a minimum bend radius of 30 mm (1.18 in) for the hardline section.
Flexible Extension Radius: Maintain a minimum bend radius of 20 mm (0.79 in) for the flexible softline section.
Avoid Kinking: Do not bend the cable back and forth repeatedly in the same spot.Secure the Cable: Clamp the cable firmly within 20 cm (7.8 in) of the sensor head to eliminate cable whip.
Support Spacing: Place subsequent cable support clamps every 30 to 50 cm along the routing path.

Technical notes

The 144-134-000-612 variant is fully certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, carrying ATEX, IECEx, cCSAus, KGS, TIIS, INMETRO, CNEx, and EAC approvals. The sensor is rated for continuous operation from −54°C to +450°C, with a cryogenic version available down to −253°C (20 K). Short-term survival temperature extends from −70°C to +520°C.

FAQs

  • What is the CA134 144-134-000-612 ?

    +
The Vibro-Meter CA134 144-134-000-612 is a high-temperature piezoelectric accelerometer designed for continuous vibration monitoring in extreme environments
  • What is the CA134 144-134-000-612 exactly?

    +
It is a specific part-number variant of the CA134 accelerometer that includes the sensor with an attached (integral) mineral-insulated cable. (For comparison, the -203 variant is the standalone sensor without an integral cable).
  • Does the CA134 require external electronics?

    +
Yes. Because it is a piezoelectric sensor with a charge output, the raw signal must be converted into a standard voltage or current signal. You will need a compatible charge amplifier or signal regulator, such as the Vibro-Meter IPC707.
  • What kind of signal conditioning is required?

    +
Because the CA134 provides a pure charge output, it requires an external charge converter or amplifier to translate the raw charge into standard voltage or current. It is built to seamlessly pair with the IPC704 or IPC707 signal conditioners.
