Description
The CA202 is a piezoelectric accelerometer from Meggitt's vibro-meter® product line, designed for heavy-duty industrial vibration monitoring in harsh environments. The CA202 features a symmetrical shear-mode polycrystalline measuring element with internal case insulation, housed in an austenitic stainless-steel case that is hermetically welded to provide a sealed, leaktight assembly.
The CA202 is fitted with an integral low-noise cable that is protected by a flexible stainless-steel protection hose, which is hermetically welded to the sensor to produce a sealed leaktight assembly impervious to 100% relative humidity (RH), water, steam, oil, and sea-salt atmospheres, as well as other potential contaminants such as dust, fungus, and sand. The CA202 is available in different versions for different industrial environments: Ex versions for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres (hazardous areas) and standard versions for use in non-hazardous areas.

The 144-202-000-205 designation specifies the standard version with a 3 metre integral cable. The sensor operates on the piezoelectric principle, generating a charge output proportional to applied acceleration. As a passive device, it requires no input power. The charge output is processed by an external charge converter such as the IPC70x series signal conditioner, which converts the charge signal into a current or voltage signal compatible with monitoring and control systems.
Sensitivity is rated at 100 pC/g ± 5%, calibrated at 120 Hz with 5 g excitation at 23°C. The dynamic measurement range spans 0.01 to 400 g peak, with overload capacity up to 500 g peak for short-duration spikes. Linearity is ± 1% from 0.01 to 20 g peak and ± 2% from 20 to 400 g peak. Mounting is performed using four M6 × 35 Allen screws and four M4 spring-lock washers at a nominal tightening torque of 15 N·m (11.1 lb-ft). Electrical insulation of the mounting surface is not required. An optional mounting adapter kit (MA133, part number 809-133-000-011) with Micaver® thermally isolating base is available for applications requiring thermal decoupling.

Minimum Bend Radius: Never bend the flexible stainless-steel armored hose tighter than a radius of 50 mm.
