What is the main function of the CI840A?+It acts as a Fieldbus Communication Interface (FCI) for S800 I/O, connecting to controllers via PROFIBUS-DPV1, handling signal processing, and OSP (Output Set as Predetermined) configuration.

What is the maximum baud rate?+The interface supports baud rates in the range of 9.6 kbit/s up to 12 Mbit/s. The maximum cable length decreases as the baud rate increases.

How many devices can be connected?+Up to 32 nodes can be connected to a single segment without repeaters. With the use of repeaters, a maximum of 126 nodes (including the master) can be connected to the network.

Is the CI840A used for redundancy?+Yes, it is designed for redundant applications. For a redundant configuration, two CI840A modules and one termination unit (TU847 or TU846) must be ordered.
