The probe uses eddy-current proximity measurement technology. A high-frequency electromagnetic field is generated at the probe tip, and changes in the distance between the probe and the conductive shaft target produce a proportional electrical signal. The connected Proximitor Sensor conditions this signal for use by machinery monitoring and protection systems.
The 3300 XL NSv system is suitable for monitoring shaft vibration, radial shaft position, axial position, speed, and other rotating equipment parameters, depending on the complete transducer system configuration. Typical applications include compressors, turbines, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other rotating machinery. The NSv design is particularly suited to installations where a compact probe geometry and reverse mounting arrangement are required.
The probe is specified for a 1.0 mm / 40 mil recommended gap and approximately 1.5 mm / 60 mil linear range according to available configuration data. Correct probe gap adjustment is essential for obtaining the expected output signal and measurement performance.
