The IC697MDL654 module is a positive/negative logic input module that comes with 32 input points and rated voltage of 48 Volts DC. The module has an input current rating of 4.7 milliAmps and it is designed for input voltage range of -3 to 56 Volts DC. The unit is produced by GE Fanuc and it is part of GE Series 90-70.

The 48 Volt DC Positive/Negative Input Module provides32 input points in four isolated groups of eight pointseach. The input current–voltage characteristics meet IECstandard (type 1) specifications.LED indicators that show the ON–OFF status of eachpoint on the logic (PLC) side of the circuit are located atthe top of the module. The input circuitry provides sufficient current to ensurereliable operation of the switching device. Input currentis typically 4.7mA in the ON state. An input in the OFFstate can accept up to 1.5mA leakage current withoutturning on.

3–wire proximity switches are easily applied, since theyprovide low voltage drop in the ON state and low leakagecurrent in the OFF State.2–wire proximity switches derive their power from thesignal connections; thus both the ON state voltage and theOFF state leakage current are higher than for 3–wiredevices. This module is compatible with many 2–wiredevices; however each device type must be carefullyevaluated for compatibility in both the ON and OFF states.To determine compatibility with a specific proximityswitch, find the ON state characteristics of the switch inthe diagram shown below. If that point falls to the left ofthe input load line, the ON state characteristics arecompatible. As an example, the ON state requirements ofa compatible proximity switch of 3mA at 5 volts drop areshown below. OFF state compatibility is assured if theproximity switch leakage is less than 1.5mA with a moduleinput voltage of 10 volts or less

The instructions below should be followed whenremoving an I/O module from its slot in a rack. Grasp the board firmly at the top and bottom of theboard cover with your thumbs on the front of thecover and your fingers on the plastic clips on theback of the cover. Squeeze the rack clips on the back of the cover withyour fingers to disengage the clip from the rack railand pull the board firmly to remove it from thebackplane connector. Slide the board along the card guide and remove itfrom the rack.
