The module occupies a single slot and has two connectors,the top connector is for attachment to the upstream BTM orBRM and the bottom connector is unused. The RCM can beinstalled in slots 2 through 9 of rack 0 (CPU rack).Five green LEDs provide status indication of the health of theRCM module and monitor the control status of the Hot StandbyCPU Redundancy system. These LEDS are labeled BOARDOK, LOCAL READY, LOCAL ACTIVE, REMOTE READY, andREMOTE ACTIVE. Local refers to the system that the RCMis in; remote is the other system connected through theexpansion bus and is automatically configured by the systemto be in slot 1 of rack 7. Rack 7, however, is not available forphysical I/O.

The IC697RCM711 module is a redundancy communications module in the Series 90-70 product line by GE Fanuc Automation. The IC697RCM711 communications module is generally used in applications that include a Hot Standby or an Enhanced Hot Standby CPU Redundancy system. Both of these systems can have a connection length of at least 7.5 meters which enables them to be located in different areas if needed. The CPUs that support this kind of operation are the IC697CPU780, IC697CGR935, and the IC697CGR772 CPU. The GE Fanuc Automation Series 90-70 IC697RCM711 communications module requires a current of 1.2 Amps and a Bus voltage of 5 Volts and it also comes with an expansion interface that uses a 15-meter connection cable. This module can communicate at a data rate of 500 KB per second and it does not require specific electrical isolation in order to operate. This module has been designed to operate with the VME integrated devices. The GE Fanuc Automation IC697RCM711 communications module comes with status indicators and a physical pushbutton. Through these buttons, the current state of the system can be changed from the main unit to the backup unit and vice versa.
