Description
The 3501T is a 32-point Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) digital input module from the Triconex Tricon v9–v11 safety instrumented system family, manufactured by Schneider Electric. It is configured for 115 VAC/VDC nominal input voltage with non-commoned, optically isolated input points and enhanced isolation rating.
The module implements full TMR architecture with three independent channels (legs) per input point. Each channel contains a microprocessor that scans each input, compiles data, and transmits it to the three main processors upon demand. The main processors vote the input data over the proprietary TriBus high-speed communication system before processing, ensuring the highest integrity and fault tolerance. The module sustains complete ongoing diagnostics for each channel; failure of any diagnostic on any channel activates the FAULT indicator and the chassis alarm signal. The module is guaranteed to operate properly in the presence of a single fault and may continue operating with certain multiple faults.

Enhanced optical isolation distinguishes the 3501T from the 3501E variant. The 3501T provides minimum 1,780 VAC / 2,500 VDC point isolation, compared to 1,000 VAC / 1,500 VDC for the 3501E. This enhanced isolation is critical for applications requiring higher dielectric withstand between field wiring and system electronics.
Logic power consumption is less than 10 W. Field power load is 1.5 W per ON point nominally, rising to 2.9 W at maximum field voltage. Leakage current to chassis is limited to 1 mA maximum per ON point at 60 Hz.
