The 3625 implements Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) at the module level. Each of the three independent channels receives digital output commands from the three Tricon Main Processors over the triplicated I/O bus. The channel outputs are then voted by quadruplicated power transistor circuitry to produce a single, highly reliable output signal to the field device. This architecture ensures that a fault in any single channel—whether due to processor failure, wiring error, or power transistor degradation—cannot cause either a dangerous failure-to-energize or a spurious trip that would disrupt process operation. The quadruplicated voter provides multiple redundancy for all critical signal paths, achieving IEC 61508 SIL 3 capability for safety instrumented functions.
