4351 - Tricon Communication Module
Triconex 4351 is a Tricon Communication Module for the Tricon 10.0 generation. It provides two copper Ethernet ports and four RS-232/RS-485 serial ports for the manufacturer-documented controller, host and device connections.
This original TCM generation assigns peer communication to NET 1 and TriStation, TSAA and Modbus TCP to NET 2. Preserve these assignments and do not mix 4351 with the later TCM generations prohibited by the manufacturer system rules.

Reach the controller through NET 2
Connect TriStation through the documented NET 2 assignment. Check the controller generation and network configuration before replacing an original 4351 with a visually similar later module. -
03 · SERIAL DEVICES
Address Modbus instruments separately
Configure each serial port with its own address and the appropriate Modbus role. Assign the required five-digit aliases to Tricon variables in TriStation before addressing those variables through Modbus.

Yes. Table 65 lists 4351 and 4352 for Tricon 10.0. The separate 4351A and B generation entries must not be treated as the same model. -
Which Ethernet connector accepts the original TCM TriStation connection?
For 4351, the protocol table assigns TriStation to NET 2. The NET 1 peer network is a different assignment. -
Why must Tricon variables receive five-digit aliases for Modbus access?
The manufacturer requires aliases assigned in TriStation so that Modbus can address Tricon variables numerically. A network connection alone does not establish this variable mapping. -
Can four serial links together transfer more than 460.8 kbps?
The documented aggregate serial throughput is 460.8 kbps. Each of the four ports is limited to 115.2 kbps. -
