In the configuration described by Siemens' 2019 manual, a fault on one channel forces all eight QI bits to zero. Set channel activation and the required CPU STOP response in the hardware configuration: outputs can turn off, retain their last state or apply substitute value one. Runtime changes use WRREC data record 128, but do not rewrite the CPU's stored STEP 7 configuration.
