What is a Ceramic Capped probe used for?+The ceramic tip provides a hermetic seal against corrosive gases and liquids. It is developed specifically for applications where the front of the probe case is exposed to harsh, highly corrosive chemical environments

What is the standard gap voltage for this probe?+When properly installed and gapped, the gap voltage should typically fall in the linear operating range of -8.0 VDC to -12.0 VDC (using a standard -24V power supply and compatible Bently Nevada Proximitor).

Can I mix it with other brands?+No. Bently Nevada strongly advises against "Frankenstein" systems. Using non-genuine cables or drivers with a Bently Nevada probe can lead to erroneous vibration readings and may violate system certifications.

The 146054, 146055, and 164517 probes were developed for applicationsthat expose only the front of the probe case assembly to corrosive gasesand liquids. These ceramic probe assemblies prevent corrosive gasesand liquids from entering the front end of the probe case. We leak testthe front-end ceramic to metal interface with helium to ensure ahermetic seal. These probes do not have a rear fitting or stainless steeltube, so that the rear of the probes are not sealed. You must not exposethe rear of these probes to destructive environments such as water, NH3,NH4OH, hydrogen sulfide, etc.

Unless otherwise noted, the following specificationsare for a 3300 5mm system including ProximitorSensor, extension cable and probe between +18 °CCand +27 °C (+64 °F to +80 °F), with a -24 Vdc powersupply, a 10 kΩ load, and an AISI 4140 steel target.Performance characteristics apply to systems thatconsist solely of 3300 XL components. The systemaccuracy and interchangeability specifications donot apply when using a transducer systemcalibrated to any target other than our AISI 4140steel target.

Jam Nut Torque: Tighten the probe jam nut to 35 ft-lb (48 N-m) to secure the probe against vibration.Thread Engagement: Standard engagement should be approximately 1.5 times the nominal thread diameter. Avoid excessive engagement, which can cause binding or damage during removal.Handling: Do not use pliers on the ceramic tip or the probe body. The ceramic is brittle and can crack if subjected to impact or side-loading.
