Description

The 146054-010-20-02-05 is a ceramic capped eddy current proximity probe from the Bently Nevada 3300 XL 8 mm series. It is configured with an M10 × 1 metric thread, 10 mm unthreaded length, 200 mm overall case length, and 0.2 meter total unarmored cable length with multiple hazardous area approvals.

The probe operates as the sensing element of the 3300 XL 8 mm eddy current transducer system, detecting the distance between the probe tip and a conductive target surface through electromagnetic induction. The 8.0 mm probe tip diameter provides a linear measurement range of 2.0 mm (80 mils) with a standard gap setpoint of 1.0 mm (40 mils). System sensitivity is 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) with ±5% tolerance, delivering an output voltage of -10 VDC to -24 VDC proportional to the probe-to-target gap.

The 146054, 146055, and 164517 probes were developed forapplications that expose only the front of the probe caseassembly to corrosive gases and liquids. These ceramicprobe assemblies prevent corrosive gases and liquids fromentering the front end of the probe case. We leak test thefront-end ceramic to metal interface with helium to ensure ahermetic seal. These probes do not have a rear fitting orstainless steel tube, so that the rear of the probes are notsealed.

Features:

  • Non-contact shaft vibration monitoring
  • Axial (thrust) position measurement
  • Alumina ceramic tip for corrosion resistance
  • Compatible with existing 3300 monitoring systems
The Bently Nevada 146054-010-20-02-05 is a 3300 Ceramic Capped Proximity Probe featuring a 3/8-24 UNF threaded stainless-steel housing, 1.0-inch overall case length, 2.0-meter standard cable, Miniature ClickLoc® connector, and CSA/ATEX/IECEx approvals. Its alumina ceramic tip and hermetically sealed front end provide exceptional resistance to corrosive chemicals and pressures up to 34 bar (500 psi), making it ideal for shaft vibration and position monitoring in aggressive industrial environments.

The 3300 Ceramic Capped Probe is a state-of-the-artsolution for monitoring machinery in aggressive chemical orhigh-pressure environments. The alumina cap and 304stainless steel probe case provide robust protection andincreased life for applications in anhydrous ammonia orother extreme pH environments. The ceramic capped probeis compatible with the 3300 Proximitor Sensor and extensioncable.

The 146054-010-20-02-05 Bently Nevada 3300 Ceramic Capped ProximityProbes may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

The M10 × 1 metric thread enables direct mounting into metric threaded bosses or adapters. The 10 mm unthreaded length provides clearance between the mounting surface and the probe tip. The 200 mm overall case length accommodates installations requiring substantial probe extension into machinery housings. The 0.2 meter total length includes a short integral probe cable with a standard miniature coaxial connector, designed for connection to extension cables that route to the proximitor.
The probe body is manufactured from AISI 303 stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The cable connector employs Bently Nevada's ClickLoc™ locking mechanism to prevent accidental disconnection under vibration.
The 146054-010-20-02-05 is calibrated for AISI 4140 steel targets with a minimum target diameter of 15 mm (0.59 in). Interchangeability error is maintained within ±5% without field recalibration when used with matched 3300 XL system components. The probe achieves a typical resolution of 0.1 µm (4 µin) and a frequency response of 0 to 10 kHz (-3 dB).

Extension Cable: The probe utilizes a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector. Connect this directly to the matching Bently Nevada extension cable.
Proximitor Sensor: The extension cable connects to a standard 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor, which provides the necessary -24 VDC power and conditions the eddy-current signal.
Terminal Wiring: When wiring the Proximitor to the monitor system, use the provided SpringLoc terminal strips on the sensor. These require no special tools—simply press the mechanism to securely clamp the stripped wire.

Technical notes

The probe body and cable are rated for continuous operation from -51°C to +177°C (-60°F to +351°F). The unarmored cable construction offers flexibility for installations where mechanical protection is not required or where cable routing through conduit provides adequate protection. The cable is rated for IP68 submersibility and withstands pressures up to 500 psi (34.5 bar).
